June has a funny way of disappearing. One minute you’re celebrating the last day of school, the next you’re finding melted popsicles in the car and wondering how it’s already July. But in the Children and Teen Program, June doesn’t quietly drift by — it bursts through the door wearing sneakers, carrying sunscreen, throwing a water balloon and yelling, “IT’S CAMP KIDS TIME!”
Camp KIDS is a free day camp led by our incredible teen counselors… but if you ask any camper or counselor, they’ll tell you it’s so much more. It’s a place where kids can take a break from cancer and just be kids. No explanations needed. No awkward moments. No worries if someone gets tired, checks in with a parent, or has a family member that looks a little different. At camp, everyone belongs. There are silly games, creative chaos, deep friendships, inside jokes that make no sense to adults, and at least one counselor who describes camp simply as “rad.” (Looking at you, Marco — who has basically grown up at camp!)
Summer also means more chances for families to laugh together, connect, and make memories. Cancer can be exhausting, overwhelming, and expensive, so we love creating opportunities where families can simply show up and enjoy themselves — whether that means tackling a goofy challenge, winning raffle prizes, or surviving one of my wildly competitive trivia games.
We hope you’ll join us this summer for Camp KIDS, Christmas in July, our Back-to-School Party, and even a trip to a pinball arcade! Whether you’ve been with us for years or are thinking about coming for the first time, we would love to welcome you. Come make memories, meet other families who “get it,” and maybe discover that you’re secretly amazing at random trivia. Christina Wise

Writing for Health and Wellness |
June 25th 10:30AM-12:00PM |
In this program, incorporating techniques from journaling and expressive writing, you will have the opportunity to write and share your words with other people who understand the demands of a cancer experience. This is not about becoming a great writer; it is about using writing as a way to deal with and heal from your own cancer experience, and doing that with other people who will really "get" what you're writing and saying. No writing experience or expertise is necessary. This program is facilitated by Janet Falon. In order to allow many individuals to participate, please limit attendance to twice per month. To learn more about Janet's approach to journaling, read her recent article in Coping Magazine.
