| I wanted to share with you my experience since I became involved with CSCGP and highlight how it’s opened so many more doors than I ever expected.
I moved to Bucks County from New York in October of 2020, after being treated for stage 2 breast cancer at Mt. Sinai in Manhattan. My husband is from New Jersey, so we decided to come back to his roots and be closer to his family in Bucks County for a more peaceful and healing atmosphere. I immediately fell in love with the area, but I also saw life through a new and different lens since my cancer diagnosis. I answered a small ad in the local paper to get involved with CSCGP in November of 2022 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I started under CSCGP’s Associate Board, volunteered at their events and met the most fascinating and generous people, some of whom were fellow cancer survivors. This was exactly what I was seeking in my life post-cancer journey; a way to give back and to also to connect with people in the community at the same time. I went on to become an official CSCGP Board Member and Board Marketing Chair.
Through my experience, I found a new family that gives unconditionally and from the heart. I found purpose. I smiled and laughed again (a lot!) and most importantly, getting to know CSCGP through their services and people, made me realize that there’s a whole other side to cancer besides the fear, stress, doctors, hair loss and surgeries; the side that carries one through the darkest of days. That’s what CSCGP offers; services and support to those who are directly impacted by cancer, all free of charge. Everyone needs to know there is another side to cancer, one that they can find at CSCGP.
Please consider volunteering at an upcoming CSCGP event and mention our services to others. Ask how you can become involved. Our doors and our hearts are always open. Holly Lengyel CSCGP Board Member |

CSCGP is proud to have the flexibility to support individuals in a variety of ways. We are listening and recognizing that there is a need for more in-person support groups, especially at the Ridgeland Mansion. As of this month, CSCGP now offers 5 weekly Living with Cancer Support Groups. Two virtual groups alongside three in person support groups throughout the Greater Philadelphia area
Living with Cancer (LWC) Support Groups are for individuals currently (or up to 18 months post treatment) experiencing a cancer diagnosis. These groups aim to provide peer support, resources and access to information that can be utilized along the cancer journey. Expect to meet other individuals with a variety of diagnoses and treatment regimens. LWC groups are closed groups and prior to attending, individuals must have joined CSCGP as a member, have a pre-attendance conversation with a program staff member,
and commit to attending on a regular basis.
If you are interested in any of our support groups, please email info@CancerSupportPhiladelphia.org |
